Strategic Asset Design and Policy Framework for the 2SLGBTQIA+ VC Roundtable

1. Context and Objective

The 2SLGBTQIA+ venture capital ecosystem faces severe underrepresentation, both in private capital allocation and within US federal economic policy discussions. Micro-funds and founders within this demographic face unique structural hurdles, yet 2SLGBTQIA+ realities are included in underserved venture mandates less than 10% of the time. And in Canada, the situation is similar to that which undeserved founders experience in the US.

To bridge this gap, Pride Venture Capital, a consortium of representatives from LGBTQ+ financial support organisations, organised a strategic roundtable to advise public sector leaders on policy reform, data collection, and legislative adjustments. The Consultant joined the initiative as a volunteer graphic designer and marketing strategist to build the campaign's visual identity and prepare the briefing assets.

2. Strategic Focus Areas

The initiative was structured around four primary policy pillars:

  • Administrative Data Collection: Securing federal support for encrypted, anonymised data collection to track LGBTQ+ business ownership without data compromises.

  • Mitigating Capital Barriers: Advocating for legislative reviews of the DEAL Act and Carried Interest Bills to protect liquidity for emerging, diverse fund managers.

  • Federal Representation: Sourcing qualified 2SLGBTQIA+ investment experts for advisory roles within the SEC, National Economic Council, and Small Business Administration.

  • Institutional Support: Advancing executive backing for non-dilutive funding mechanisms, such as those jeopardised by recent legal challenges to the Fearless Fund.

3. Methodology and Consultant Contribution

Visual Identity and Brand Architecture

The Consultant established the visual anchor and brand for the campaign. The design required a balance between professional venture capital aesthetics and distinct ecosystem representation, ensuring the brand carried immediate credibility when presented to federal officials and institutional partners.

Marketing Asset Production and Document Layout

Operating as a volunteer strategist, the Consultant translated dense economic data and legislative proposals into polished, highly scannable marketing collateral and policy briefs. Key contributions included:

  • Designing layouts for the briefing and advocacy documentation.

  • Formatting standardised templates for political campaigns.

  • Compiling registry lists of top-tier 2SLGBTQIA+ investors and policy experts to present directly to the Presidential Personnel Office for committee considerations.

Local and National Mobilisation Framework

The marketing strategy was designed to maintain momentum, structuring promotional guidelines for events (hosted in co-working spaces and regional hubs), leveraging upcoming election cycles to secure buy-in from local mayors, state officials, and federal policy players.

4. Outcomes and Long-Term Impact

  • Unified Brand Presence: The logo and marketing assets successfully unified a disparate network of fund managers, founders, and advocacy groups under cohesive branding, significantly increasing the campaign's professional authority.

  • Policy Pipeline Readiness: By transforming complex legal arguments into accessible marketing assets, the project provided Pride Venture Capital with a plug-and-play advocacy toolkit that remains functional across changing political administrations.

  • Data Advocacy Advancement: The campaign effectively elevated the profile of modern data-protection tools (like Reliabl.ai), establishing a clear pathway for how the federal government can safely collaborate with diverse tech ecosystems to drive regional job creation and patent growth.
